Phil and I left the UK on the 19th March 2017. Travelling from Suffolk to the Netherlands on an overnight ferry, as the first leg of our Road To Happiness Expedition. I am writing this sat on a high speed train from St Petersburg to Moscow. Which completes after one hundred days travelling across Europe on boat, train and coach. We still have a long way to go, travelling through Russia, Mongolia, China before looping round South East Asia and up through India into Bhutan. As you can imagine … [Read more...] about 5 Things I’ve learnt after 100 days non stop travel
Moscow to Yekaterinburg - Saturday 1st to Sunday 2nd July I have a general rule with travel: The longer/more expensive the journey, the earlier you get to the departure point. So even though Moscow Kazansky Station was only half an hour from our apartment, we were there a full two hours before our train was due to depart for Siberia. However, it turns out it was time we could spend well, stocking up on some train snacks and getting a terrible coffee. Saint Petersburg, Russia – Thursday 22nd to Monday 26th June Saint Petersburg is a city of many facets; and one very obviously changing and developing. And I am genuinely PROUD of it. Honest!
Turku, Finland – Friday 16th June to Monday 19th June We had been toying with the idea of making a trip up to the Arctic to experience the midnight sun. However, we’d been lucky enough to experience truly white nights on the farm, and the distance and price to get that far north proved too much. So instead we went the other way, and ventured south to the coastal town of Turku. We took the Omnibus all the way down from Tampere, discovering that not all coaches are created equal. This was … [Read more...] about Week Fourteen Roundup: Leaving the EU, via Turku
I have been describing myself as a Minimalist for a few years now. I have even given talks and workshops on the subject. One thing that comes up often is people feeling Minimalism as an impossible choice for them. They think that you have to live in a house of less then 100 things. Your rooms are painted white, with empty shelves and clean worktops. You have to chuck away your television, no children (can you imagine the mess!) and never going shopping again. Well, unless you need food or … [Read more...] about How to be Minimalist without throwing out your stuff.
